Very good. This is the best game in App story! Thank you so much! :)

Great game, but.............

Its a great overall game but everyone is correct the d-pad is horrible i mean really! Update then 5 stars

Not iPhone Optimized

The retro experience is entertaining, but its obvious they intended for the game to be played on an iPad (sadly), meaning the "Universal" aspect of this game isnt fully realized.

Awesome game great job

The recent addition of icade support makes all the difference! Thanks for incorporating it so fast! Excellent platformer

Great game, awesome update!

The Other Brothers is a great platformer. Theres a lot to explore, and the art style is fantastic! Its really fun to play on iCade, and the handheld controls in version 1.1 work perfectly. :)

Fix the controls! Fix the controls! Fix the controls!

This game is unplayable even with the update, the d pad is way too small. Great example of a interface is Mutant Mudds.

Too fast

Please slow the bag guys down.

Fantastic.

Really great platformer.

Disappointing

Update: Unfortunately, the update didnt fix any of the fundamental problems with the game. The new control options certainly help the playability of the game, but it doesnt fix any of the core game design problems I mentioned in my original review below. The game is honestly not that good. Even when they fix the sort of wonky virtual d-pad, the core game is just sloppy, and frankly, boring. The characters have an unpolished feel to them in general (control wise). And the levels are just huge open areas without any logical structure or progression to their layout. Its a shame, because this is a game that I really wanted to like. The art direction is fantastic. It just LOOKS like a game you would love. But reality unfortunately doesnt support this preconception. A lot of these great looking retro-styled games are hit or miss on the App Store. This one is a miss.

Great art

Very pleasing aesthetics incite the best senses of nostalgia. However, the controls need work.

Are you kidding?

Does anyone try these games before you put them on iTunes, or the App Store ? Controls are so bad the game is unplayable.

Classic Platformer

If you liked Mario bros. you will love this. The art is best in class and the music is equally awesome. The levels are fun to explore and challenging to complete all three stars. Worth every penny, and if you want to unlock Jim, you must achieve six stars overall in any of the levels. Cant wait for the next episode!

The update helped

I think the fact that they fixed the control issue really helped, but I still think they should add a fixed cursor pad as well, and I think you should make it were if your pressing the new directional pad and your finger slides off, but doesnt go off the screen, it should keep going in that direction and not stop. You should probably add more enemies and obstacles in levels as well.

Good idea

Could be fun but the controls are horrible the floating system doesnt work

Dissapointed

I have been super excited about this game ever since it was announced. Boy, what a let down. The level design is uninspiring and has no logical flow. There are basic tutorial explanations for some things, but is still does not make much sense. Add to that the fact that its just a collectathon with no real meat to the game. Give me something with substance, and controls that dont feel floaty and hard to control. If this was a console game I would have either returned it or traded it in.

Eh...

The control quirks really turned me off to what could be a fun game.

Could be fun

Despite the control update I think this game needs another level design pass. Pacing pacing pacing...dont tell me an artist designed it. It looks great but not much else. The game needs a bit more ramping up. It kinda just throws a bunch of stuff at you right in the first level. The ai seems like madness. The controls also doesnt help. I do like the fact the levels feel non linear but pacing could be better.

Potential Never Meant Anything

The d-pad update was a huge improvement, and Ive played more since he update. But Ive come to realize that the d-pad isnt the only problem. This game is way too hard. Fighting mostly consists of Mario-type jumping on things to make them die. But enemies move way too fast from the very first level. This game needs serious concept work everywhere. The levels are these big areas—not a linear path. Each level is basically an Easter-egg hunt for oil cans and doves (...which give you health.....?). Dodging enemies is hard and killing them is harder. Ill be honest. I havent played the whole game. Maybe it gets a lot better. But beginnings are everything, and I couldnt make it past the first two levels. This game had so much potential as a classic Mario-like platformer, but it got seriously screwed up from the very start. Nice pixel art, though. And the story seemed like it would have been classic. Ill give it another star for that. But Ill probably never finish this game.

Good game that could be great

Id start by saying, in some of the reviews people complain of difficulty, thats what makes a platformer fun. Games now days are to easy. This game, mutant mudds and a few others are examples of how platformers should be. The only thing holding this game back from greatness are touchy controls (even with the update) and its a tad short. Otherwise great game and I will certainly support the devs in the future!!!
